Panasonic at the Fuorisalone 2018: “TRANSITIONS” by Panasonic Design
Panasonic has celebrated its 100th anniversary with a visually powerful and dramatic installation at Fuorisalone 2018, which takes place from the 17th - 22nd April 2018, at the Palazzo di Brera.
Panasonic, a major participant at the Milan Fuorisalone for many years, has won the Milan Design Award in both 2016, for the People’s Choice Award, and 2017, for Best Storytelling Award.
Building on its adaptability over a century of transition, the company is looking ahead to a fast-changing future. The installation Panasonic brings to Fuorisalone 2018 celebrates this development with the "TRANSITIONS” concept, which represents the company’s determination to address the transformations and challenges of a future unknown, while remaining true to Panasonic’s history and traditions.
Panasonic has expressed the concept of transition in the form of a creative activity called ‘Air Inventions’, a spectacular installation using Panasonic's air-conditioning technology to create images, sound and light.
Within the central courtyard of the Palazzo di Brera, visitors can admire the imposing 20 metre-diameter pavilion in the shape of a gigantic water drop. Panasonic’s air-conditioning technologies such as Silky Fine Mist, a mister for combined micro-droplets of water and air, and Nanoe X, an air-purifier, are creating a welcoming atmosphere in the heart of Milan.
Panasonic’s PT-RQ32 super-brightness laser projectors, boasting 27,000 lumens of brightness, display 4K images over the surface and inside the vast water droplet installation. The combined functionalities of the 4K professional projectors and the special ET-D3LEF70 fisheye lens designed for high-resolution dome projections, are delighting viewers with dazzling video quality and immersing them in a unique, multi-sensory experience.
“In a world of transformative and integrative values, the part played by design is also changing fast,” explains Mr Shigeo Shirai, director of Panasonic Appliances’ Design Centre. “At this year's Milan Design Week, we are offering our visitors a multi-sensory and immersive experience. Air Inventions actually celebrates the way design is changing from a discipline expressed in material elements, to one which is able to give expression to ethereal, intangible elements such as air. Air Inventions is a space created to give our visitors an unparalleled opportunity to breathe in the purest, cleanest air in the heart of Milan.”
Panasonic Design will open its new design headquarters in the world-famous cultural capital of Kyoto in April 2018, expanding and accelerating the exciting “TRANSITIONS – by Panasonic Design” throughout the organisation.
Exhibition timeframe: From Tuesday, 17 April, to Sunday, 22 April 2018, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Location: Palazzo di Brera, Via Brera 28, Milan, Italy
