What we're doing
At Panasonic, concern for our environment isn’t something we’ve just discovered; it’s part of the way we do things and it’s written into our code of conduct:
“The earth is our home. It provides us with a variety of blessings including natural resources and energy. With this in mind, we will take the initiative in environmental activities to preserve our invaluable natural environment for future generations.
We will continually adapt our thinking and behaviour to meet the ever-changing conditions around us, taking care to act in harmony with nature to ensure progress and success in our endeavours.”
In particular, under an initiative that we call Eco Ideas, we’ve spent many years improving the way we make our professional projectors, from reducing waste in manufacturing to designing ever more energy efficient components to save energy and reduce emissions.
Improvements in manufacturing
Since 2007 we’ve reduced our CO2 emissions in manufacturing by 300,000 tonnes through conscious product design, careful materials selection and implementing a range of production improvements.
Improvements in our products
Audio visual applications are demanding ever brighter images, because customers are demanding large screen solutions which perform well in bright conditions. Panasonic is working hard to soften this effect by developing more efficient light technologies which give a higher lumen output with the same power consumption, or the same brightness with less electricity. In consequence, our newest display products offer significantly higher performance while at the same time consuming less energy. In short, we leave no stone unturned in our quest to produce the world’s greenest display solutions.
However, while future technologies promise even further dramatic reductions in power consumption, we need a more immediate, positive solution, which is why we have developed the Offset For Life program.
